le According to Filiberto Velasquez Trejo, Oficial Mayor of the Confederacion

Cccartunist leader and CTRL official, plans to visit all South American
countri~)s In which the CTAL has affiliates for the purpose of discussing
with the leaders of the member unions the holding of a Conferenoia Sindieal
del Sur (Southern Labor Conference) in *11ontevideo,9 Uruguay, in January 1950.
2a The conference, reportedly rill aim to increase tho influence and activity
of CTRL affiliates in the area and to make plans designed to forestall the
efforts of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions, now being
forced in London, to vin adherents from -mong the unions now affiliated with
the CTRL and the :orld Federation of Trade Unions (7F1U) a T.brona will also
attept to achieve more active participation on the part of CTPL affiliates
in the fight against alleged American inporialism and in favor of peace.
3. The expenses incurred by riorena on the tour are allegedly boing paid by the
CTRL which, in turn, has received the neoessar^y funds from the PTU.
