The m~,neral oil industry of the Russian one is conC~~ntrated
in the WB Kohlenwertstoffe with headquarters "in 1=Talle. It con-
sists of the following publicly owned plants:
>~Iineral~Jlwerk Ltitzkendorf! refines petroleum receiverd from
Zister orf~ Austria. It employs 5000 men.. Planned prC~.duction
based on, full capacity ~s 35000 tons of crude oil and 4~~ Q00 tans
of residue per year. Repair work is proceeding with 2~5G~~ v~orkers.
The plant chief is Dr.-Hugo Eckardt who is reported to bEr an SPD
sympathizer despite his membership in the SED and ci.tatic~n as an
actwist,

It employs workers an w ll probably-be closed down Moon. since
Lt~tzkendorf is fully capable of handling full production. Both
Herren]:ei;te and L~.tzkendorf operate at a loss and are su~:tained
by large state subsidies.
Chemi~ he F,,,,-?~abr k, Dessau, refines ceresir~ received From
Lfitzkeridor It employs 1 O men and has a capacity of 1G0 tons
,per month. Its production includes basic material for satlves~
nsulation for electric cables and catalysers for the ru~~ber goods
industry.- It makes large deliveries to the people's demcPcracies?i
especially Poland.
V uce } Brander~bur~~ employs 100 men in the produci~ion of
lubric~~,t.a:
Chemische Fabrik! Free belongs to the Rhenania-C)ssag group
which is ov~ned by oreign capital. At present the- DG',tK i,~ attempt-
ir~,g to negotiate some kind of settlement. It employs ~0 menu

50~ of capacity.. From 194 -1948 its entire production of montan
way was shipped to the USSR unrefined for use as packing material
in the explosives- industry.. Since January 1949 the SMA has
released 500-600-tons monthly for bleaching but most of the bleached
-wax has. been delivered as reparations..
