SUPPLEMENT TO
The firer of Sulzer Brothers, Winterthur, has been constructing both the bodies
and engines for the now jet aircraft to be used by the Swiss Army. Construction
on the plane bodies is far ahead of engine construction, and a nardmur of six
completed bo:Jies is expected to be shippod shortly to the Swiss Arrrr airfield
at Em en.
In order to test those bodies while delivery of the engines from Sulzer is
# ^3ng a sited, Amy rrn ;ineers at Erir,en have orderid six or more I-?anba jet en-
gines from Armstrong`-Sidletr in Enf!land. In order to use these T?artba engines
in the bodies of the new jet plans, basic transformation of these engines has
already been planned and designed by the Enmen staff. `'ince the Mamba engine
is a r as--turbine driving a propollur, the propellers will be removed an tell
as the gearing, and a different gearing will be adapted to the engine driving
a multi--stage ducted fang Gearing and multi-stage fan are being constructed
