1. Communist troops assembling in the Soochow area include some from Kiangsu
Province who have joined the Communist array within the last week. These
troops are poorly equipped. dements of the Communist 20 rmy with heavy
artillery are in the eastern section of Soochow? A large Communist hospital
has been established in the Soochow area.

Shanghai attempting to bribe Nationalist army,, navy, airforce and police

alists fight the deciding battles for Shanghai outside the city., The new
and scattered labor disputes are now being handled satisfactorily, The
troops are causing some, disturbance among the civilians by occasional loot=-
ing, but the looters and infiltrating Communists are executed immediately
