1, Police interrogation of leading members of the Portuguese Communist Paety
(PCP) organization at karinha Grande provided the following information en
the structure of the organization in that area.
2. Composition of the Regional Committee of the PCP at Marinha Grande*
Julio da Cruz PAOUR, who, by virtue of membershie on the Provincial Ccomittwa
of the lest (Northern Section), controlled the Regional Committee and was
responsible for it. He is a former glass factory employee; at ereteet he
is a salesman and residing in Marinha Grande. PAOUR is being sought ay
the police.
Antonio SABOGA, representative of Local Committee #1, a alassworker, et -
,present in hiding from the police. (SA3OG4 replaced Antonio Lopes do
ALMEIDA who committed suicide on 20 January, four days after his arreet.)
Celestine Ponte LNTRA, representative of Local Committee #2, arrebted on. 15
February. LETRA acted as liaison man for the Regional Committee.
albino Serreno de Sousa e SILVA, representative of Local Committee arreeted
on 4 December 1948.
Manual GittGORIO, representative of Local Committee #4, resident of Uarralese
eetel,a,at taesent being sought by the police.

Jose MORMBA, resident of Marinha Grande, at present in hiding from the police,
Joaquim da Silva COUCE/RO, now under arrest, was chairmea of the Board. of
Directors of the National Syndicate of Glaseworkers.
Adrian? Net() NOBRE, now under arrest, represented the PCP on the Leiria Distriet
Committee of the Movimento de Unidade Democratica,(MUD). .
Atcmf0 GREGORIO, former resident of Marinha Grande and sitbseeeently of

Comment, Manuel GUEDES, reported in. IIIIIIIIIidistributed 19 jenuary
1948, as a member of the Central Committee, Secretariat, and Politburo: of the
PCP, has been identified as the PCP functionary known to have attended severe:1

4, The Regional Committee at Marinha Grande controlled the following local
committees:

Gabriel ANTONIO, a glassworker who controlled a factory cell in the
Gab o Glass Factory and regularly distributed twenty copies of
AVASTE to this cell. ANTONIO was arrested on 15 February 1949.
Jose ALEXANDRE, Jr., resident of Marinha Grande, arrested on 15
February 1949.
Carlos Vicente de BARBOSA, now under arrest.
Americo EMMA0 a glassworker, resident at Marinha Grande, not
yet arrested; acted as liaison man for Marinha Grande Regional
Committee,
Known former members of this Committee are Julio SALVADOR and Antonio
JUBILEU, both gleasworkers, notaret arrested.

This Committee controlled a factory cell in the only glass faetpry at
Vieira by means of Joao FAUSTINO and Manuel JUBILEU, neither of whom
nee yet been arrested.

5. Party publications were formerly brought from Marinha Grande to Alcobaca by
Jaime dos SANTOS, now under arrest. He used to deliver 100 copies of each
issue of AVANT E and 40 copies of each issue of 0 NILITARTE to Reinaldo da
Silva BARBARA (see paragraph 4-C), who distributed them from the hourie of
Fernando Boica MES(AJITA, a classworker and member of a glass factory cell at
Alcobaca.
6. The following glass factory cells at Marinha Grande have been discovereda
*Aesucar Factory - Indaleto FRANCISCO, responsible member, not yet arrested.
Vicris Factory - Antoaio MARRAZES, responsible member, not yet arrested,
Santos Barosa Factory - Antonio JUBILEU, responsible member, not yet
arrested (see paragraph 4-A).
7. While Joao Neves VASCO (see paragraph 4-C), as representative of the Alcobaca
Local Committee, was a member of the Regional Committee, a regional sub-
committee was formed, headed_by him. Other members were
Gilberto Magalhaes COUTINHO (see paragraph 4-0, who controlled the
organization at CapuchosT outside Alcobaca.
Silveiro CALCADA, not yet arrested, who controlled the organization at
VestiariaT on the outskirts of Alcobaca.
Jaime doe SANTOS (see paragraph 5) who controlled the organization at
Maiorga. outside Alcobaca.
This regional sub-committee was later dissolved and its functions assumed by
the Alcobaca Local Committee. The Alcobaca Local Committee met regularly at
the residences ofa
Gilberto Magalhaes CWTINHO (see paragraphs 4-C and 6).
