the Jachyriov 'lines Directorate. Irnm,. Uinke1hofer is the head of

20 The nine extends over an area l an long and 250 to 300 re wide; it is
750 m deep and has 10 1e rela. Above the pit there are two processing,
rooms (one o:!d and one new), rachinery for loadin ; the ore of poor
quality into wagons, and machinery for attinn the ore of good quality
into boxes. One wagon coriprises about 600 kg; of ore, l box about 30 kra,

l.. This mine is located about 7 km north of Jach 'ov (beyond Bratratvi)
-ing. Pibyr has recentlky been appointed manager of the nina; he is 28
years old, an ardent Cor w fat, lives in 'otucky (I.3reitenhach), and
comes to mine regularly by car. His deputy, Fr. Weidi, mine sit

2,r The Elias Mine is 160 m deep and has t* xa lovels. The first level,,

flarbora and Fludr veins extending here from the Rovnost Mine

within the J cb ov area. The nine employs 200 Czechs, 60 German

The Svbrnost Mine is located on the outskirts of the town close to the
road leading to T3ozi Dar. Ing. alab, 45, a Corr-unist, is the m ne aa-
ger. His deputy is Proks, -nine supervisor (previously a National Soci-
alist, now a Coma anat. t) . The pit is 850 m deep; above it a new mining
tower is being built. The labor force cor:9prises 150 Czechs and SlovaTcs,
50 Germ n civilians, and about 200 German PWe living in a camp on the
Promises.

This mine consists of one pit and one index ~c7ent drift. The mine is
located on the way from Elias to ?Mariasorg 0. atek, mine supervisor,
bolds the Deist of manager there- a former member of the Czech National
oe)cialist Party, he is now a member of the Communist Party. Only Ger-
man prisoners of war under the nunervision of 3 Czechs are corking in
the mine. The Zalesi If ne contains the best quality ore within the en-
tire Jack miov area. Occasional deposits contain from 4.5 to 60 percent
of radium ore.
This. Is 60 m weep and comprises 8 drifts; work is going on in al.I of the
drifts. Aolek, mine supervisor, who came from Ostrava, is the mine mana-
ger. The ore rained here is of good c: lity but the output of the mine is
low.
This wine is located vex close to the town of 3'ach rnov. The nine con

out). When the eerimrental digging shows good results a new mine 3s
