Frau ^chnied (fra.), a Swiss citizen living at the Hotel Krantz in Vienna, is reported to be expecting the arrival of 7 tons of ball bearings sizes 30313, 30316, and 30320 fror, Frankfurt arr T-'fain. The bearings are intended for USIA. Frau 11chnied is reported to have a?onts in Vienna and Salzburg who are att. pting to develop contacts on the border to help sr?uggle the bearings into Austria. According to Frau Schiniedr, these contacts are dif- ficult to establish at present. 2. Engineer "chienecker (fnu) of the firm of Dr. "trqube in Sa1z'mrg, is re- ported to be mediating a ball bearing transaction for the j".arglov (sic) com- pany in Vienna, on behalf of the Romanian armament industry. According to course, 5,000 tons of bearings for the Romanian Governrient are hidden in Berchtee e a or Bad Reiehenhall, atjaiting a safe means of transportation to Austria. 3. The Czechoslovak firm Omnipol is also reported to be awaiting a safe method of bringing ball bearings across the border from Gerr..ariy. The transaction is bein,,1 handled by T-;eyerhofer (fnu), a representative of the Arbos*(sic) textile company, Austria. ?5X1 A6a This firm is possibly identical with the Arbos Transit com- pany which is reported to be a cover firm for the Austrian Cormraunist Party.
