1. The Partido Comunista do Colombia (PCC) hue met with serious obstacles in
its agitation cam, rAdgn in the rural areas of Colombia, particularly in the
Department of Cauca, where Gilberto Vieira: kite, Alvaro Pio Talencia, PCC
Secretary of T4ucation, Alfonso Paz, and Jose Cardona iioyos of Cali have been

in the rural problems of the area.

Denartment of Cundinamar, ca? Co^iriunist meetings have been held in the small
riunicipalities of Marino and Guataqui, near Girardot, Cundinamarea, under the
dirsctircn of Angel Maria Cane of Girardot0 Connunist agitation in Guest-qui
has been so successful that the government has sent extra security agents and
armed forces to the area to prevent possible trouble.
3m The P00 has been informed that the rovernnent has been making a political
survey in those regions where the Communists are active, ilthough the
government does not consider Communism to be a real threat ,at present, because
of the small size of the --ovement, it believes that the Corriunists may
become influential enough to create serious difficulties in the disturtbed
