1. Rene Rivera, a nephew of Col. Osmin Aguirre, has stated that funds amounting
to $180,000 have beoome available to the supporters of Aguirre who may soon
attempt a coup d'etat in El Salvador to force the present junta free : powrer.
Rivera, who claimed to be a secret contact of the holder of the funds, said
that they were to be used to bribe officials and army garrison commanders.
Rivera added that all regiments will be approached except the Artillery, and
that only two commanders remain to be suborned. It is believed that these
two are the commanders of the Cavalry and the First Infantry. According to
Rivera, there is a special plan for the First Infantry.

the junta, although it is feaked that Carranza may be too close to Major
Osorio to be trusted..
