(LISTED BELOW) SUPPLEMENT REPORT r U P P L E ME N T i' O RNO. 1~ At the beginning of this year the directors of the Sin Po and the I~eax; c felt that :".O3 Tse-tung wary not a ORussla P Co iunist ', but ? 'Chinese& Communist and that he would put the interests of China above those of Russia, 2 , This feeling has charged gradually and the majority of the editors and directors of newspapers now feel that MAO is directly controlled by the Kremlin. The main reason for this shift in opinion is the recent broadc sts*from Conmunist China over a powerful transmitter beamed to Indonesia and South- eact Asia. Some of the broadcasts have attacked Sg karno, Hatta and Sjahrir as American puppets and have praised Tan MMalakaa. These broadcasts are easily heard in Indonesia. Source believes that these broadcasts have forced Republicans, such as S jaahrir, who want to remain neutral in the Russian-American conflict, to see the pre- cariousness of :heir position and to recognize Tan Maalaia as their -greatest ene o 25X1A6a in the light of his knorledge of recent activities ice d area, source is of the opinion that the Kremlin, in order to keep ?MAO T'se-lung firmly under Russian control, has offered to sa spl.i.t the world' with him, giving MAC a free hand in the Far East, Southeast- Asia and possibly in India. MAO Tse-tung and Tan Maalakk are personal friends. Comment. A broadcast from forth Shensi. on 21 March warned Indonesian Rapublcans that their efforts to obtain liberation were doomed as long as they were led by by the feeble-minded bourgeoisie and urged them 'jao create a proletarian-led revolutionary army, to start with guerrilla warfare, build up the Communist party and prepare to capture big cities later. "Tht broadcast concluded by boasting of Chinese Communist succosses and said the Indonesians could do likewise if they would follow the Chinese Communist pattern. This broadcast was heard in San Francisco, Phis document is hereby regraded to CONFIDENTIAL in accordance with the letter of 16 October 1978 from the Archivist of t JJni ed States t..
