to Jose iianciaidor, President of the Federacion de Organismos do Ayuda a is
hepublica Espanola (FOARE), a-Communist-front organization in Mexico City,
wrote on 2 March 1949 to Colo Miguel Garcia Granadoa in Guatemala City,
to -enlist his aid in organizing a branch of the FOA?E in that city. He
stressed the need for unifying all pro-Spanish forces, and praised the
hitherto "generous attitude of our sister republic" in these metters.
2. Col. Garcia Granadoe is a brother of Lico Jorge Garcia Orenados, Former
Guatemalan Ambassador to the United States. Cola Garcia Granados fought in
the Spanish Civil War on the side of the Republicans.

On 19 August 1947 a similar suggestion to establish a Guatemalan rIDARE
was made to Rafael de Buen y Lozano in Guatemala City by an individual
named "Felipe" (thought to be Felipe Munoz Aroonada), Do Buen, a Spanish
hepublican and pro-Communist educator, was also approached by Ricardo
Castellote, of Mexico City, for the some purpose,,
