THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1, Construction of the new port at Split is reported to be progressing. The
new port L, situated west of Vranjic and is being connected up by a branch
line, at present under construction, with the new railway freight yard at
Kopilice (on the Split - Solin road),
2, Construction of the watertowers and general warehouses has just begun.
The wharves and internal port railroad section have yet to be built,
3. The shipyards, which lie east of the new port, have recently been enlarged
and work here is being intensified. Besides ships, it is planned to build
aircraft and motor vehicles here,
4, A plan is under consideration to create an industrial zone near the ship-
yards which will include metal and chenical factories. It has not, however,
progressed beyond the paper stage, though survey work has begun on a rail-
road line to connect up this area with the new port and the main line from
