to After the liberation of Rome the "Lega Nazionale Cooperative"
(National Cooperative Lague), with headquarters at Nod 7, Via
Sapri, Rome, secured control of the "Este Nazionale Fascists
dell Cooperative" (National Fascist Body of Cooperatives).
The President of the "Legs", the former High Commissioner for
Food, Giulio :erreti, a Communist, converted the organization
into an effective center for Communist propaganda.
2. The "Lega", under PCI directives, exerts control over several
cooperatives. Several new cooperatives are being set up
throughout the Lazio region, such as the "Stalin" and "Due
Ottobre" cooperatives, which were recently formed at Tarquinia
(Viterbo). The purpose of these cooperatives is to store
wheat and other cereals which will be distributed to the
members of the Communist Party in case of an emergency.
3, At the commercial chancellery of Rome, there are many applications
awaiting approval for the formation of numerous cooperatives for
building purposes,-the sale of wine, oil, agricultural products,
etc.., All these applications form part of an extensive plan prepared
by the Communist Party for the establishment of cooperatives to
handle the clandestine distribution of food.
4. In this connection it should be noted that many of the cooperatives
which are not yet legally sanctioned, are already purchasing large
quantities of foodstuffs.
5. The "Alleanza Cooperative Italiana di Consume" is a branch of the
"Lega Nazionale dell: Cooperative", whose headquarters are at No.
7, Via Sapri, Ike. The "Alleanza"?has control over various
cooperatives throughout Italy, including the "Consorzio Provincial,
dells Cooperative" in Bologna, whose director is the Communist,
Pietro Nicolo Avoni.
6. , In addition to its primary purpose of distributing food to members of
the PCI in case of an emergency, these cooperatives serve as a source
of funds for the PCI and as a channel for subversive propaganda,
