There follows a list of prominent members of the Yugoslav Communist Party
in Split:
1. Anticevic Ivo: President, Court of Arbitration. Aged 50, tall, shout,
grey hair., awyer by profession, graduate University of Zagreb, married to
a former Miss Bulic, daughter of prominent lawyer, and has two children.
:.4 complete opportunist, he was first a nationalist, later a follower of
cek, subsequently an Ustasha, and is now an active Communist Party
member.
2. Anticevic, Dr. Miro a President, Popular Tribunal. Brother of Dr. No
. nticevic. Aged 3$7 he is a tall, slander man, with a moustache and a
graduate of the University of Zagreb Law School. An opportunist, it suits
his current convenience to be a Communist Party member.
3. Benzon,, Mileva: Member of the Communist Party Committee for Dalmatia.
Barn in Vran ic, she is married but uses her maiden name. A graduate of
the Belgrade law school, she was strongly pro-Communist before the war.
Described as tall, heavy- set, masculine in appearance, with a deep voice.
Age 39.
4. Benzon, Cirlka: Hospital Commissar of island of Hvar. Sister of Milova=
Benzon. Ag de 4.5. thin, -tan, long face, wears glasses. Fanatic Communist.
.jingle and uneducated.
5:, 3e anon, i ?o: Communist leader of the village of Vranjic. Brother of
'2116va amen. Aged 52, tall, heavy set, grey hair. He has one son aged
20, former Ustasha, who fled to Italy, and another at home. Provincial
.Adviser to Fisheries Department of Dalmatia. Hated because he organized.
the mobilization of youth into Communist ranks at the beginning of the war,,
most of whom never returned,,
6~ Benzon. Ve jekoslart: Communist Party chief of Vranjic. No relation to
:IIjiro Benzon. Described as aged 44.9 tall, average stature, greying hair.
Organizes y~erroristic activities in the village against non--Communists.
7. Bonacci l jarko: Lieutenant Yugoslav Navy, Split. Purser for Navy head-
quarters. Aged 35, small, fat, swarthy. Communist Party member. Reportedly
stole five million lire from the Prva Pucka Dalatinska Banka for the loaamunisat

inn satanic,, Colonel Nitro: Navy physician. Aged 1t2, tall and blond, he
was a pre-war Communist and is married to Drags. Vrsalovic, a woman of
strong left-wing affiliations. Was scheduled to leave for the Soviet
Union for training in December 19148, but was not permitted to depart be-
cause of the "paucity of physicians" in the area.
9. Cerra, Admiral (fnu): Chief., Yugoslav Navy. Married, he resides in
Firule, Split. Described as a small, dark, reserved Slovene. Politically
pro-Tito.
10. Culin, Vinko: Director of Tribunal Prison, A dangerous man, hated by
many peop e, e is brutal, cruel and ignorant. Prior to the war was a
peasant in the village of'Dugo Polje. Described as strongly pro-Tito.
Small, thin, sallow-faced man, aged 32.
11. Ovilicevic, Gr o, (Partisan name "Cigo"): Formerly attorney attached to
tin popular Tribunal, Split, he entered the Yugoslav diplomatic service
in 1914?. Aged 32, he was born on island of Korcula. Described as
5+14" tall, of medium build, round face, prominent member of Communist
Party and fanatic Communist. Father attempted suicide and family con-
sidered mentally defective.
12. Donatov Erna : Manager, Split Shipping office. is also an official of
he Yugoslav Merchant Marine in Belgrade. Makes policy on shipping matters.
A confidant of the Party, he is distrustful of all non-Communists. Prior
to the war he worked in the shipping firm of Matkovic as a bookkeeper.
Commutes between offices in Fiume and Split. Described as aged 36, small,
alender, sickly looking and myopic.
13. Finkovic Sveto: Curator of Split Museum. Strongly pro-Tito, ideological
Marxist. Former high school teacher, aged 1414, writes articles for local
press.
14. Goanovic(f~nu): Professor and lawyer attached to the Popular Tribunal.
Born inSibenik. Married daughter of shipping agent Lukaic. Tall and
stout, wears glasses, of low intelligence. Pro-Tito, both he and his wife
follow Party orders scrupulously.
]i. Katavic, Blas (Partisan name "Tripo"): Political Commissar in the Navy,
split. Aged148, small, fat and bald,, wears sideburns. Old Communist, a
carpenter by trade. Heavy drinker, interested in money, divorced, has
several mistresses.
16. Kristic-, Buno: Political Commissar, Navy Headquarters (?) Split. Before
was bbank clerk. Born in Sebenik, aged 145, small and swarthy, he
is a heavy drinkere
li'. Krstulovic, Vicko: Official of Ministry of Merchant Marine. Old time
co nist, wwas a dock worker before the wwar. Aged 145, tall, heavy-set.,
with deep lines in face. Married but living with his secretary, Segvic,
Vesela, aged 37, a smalll, dark, fat woman who was imprisoned before the war
for Communist leanigs.
18. Mai'oani (fnu : Unknown where residing or working at present. Seen by
Source in Split prior to escape. was first Military Tribunal Chief of
town. As such., he was responsible for the death of countless people.
Born in Vie,, he is about 16, of average stature, well, built, with, grey
hair and usually. in civilian clothes. An attorney, he is a fervent member
of the Communist Party.
19. Markati j Ruzica: 'p'olitical Commissar in Shipping Office. Aged 37, she
is tall, well--dressed, sportswoman. Was imprisoned for. seven years as a
Communist under the Royal Yugoslav Government.

20. dandic Bruno: Director of Split daily, Slovodna Dalmatia. A young man,
prior to the war he was sentenced to reform school for Communist propaganda.
Printer by trade,- he is an ideological Communist and active member of the
Communist Party.
21. Mandic Frano: Political Commissar of Split Electricity Works. Brother
o no Mandic. Aged 36, he is married and resides in town.
22o Miic Dr ago: Professor at Electrical School. Communist. Unsteady and
unreliable, he is about late, single, of average stature, with ruddy com-
plexion and thin curly hair.
23. Roncevic, Petar: Chief of Popular Tribunal. Aged 50, a tall heavy-set
man with grey hair and full face, was born in Sibenik. A pro-Tito Communist,
he follows Party orders without question. Resides with his wife and child
in Split. Was a minor town official in Sibenik prior to the war.
2I}. Smokrovic, Capt. fnu : Officer of Merchant Marine. An old time Communist,
Fe is a pilot by prsion. During the war he was one of the chief or-
ganizers of the Communist Party apparat in the Shipping office at_ Split.
Aged 52, tall, slender, married. His wife runs a government food shop on
Solin Road, Split. Generally regarded as a misfit, he maintains his present
position largely because of his Party record during the war.
25. Smol an Marko: Communist action squad-leader. Pre-war maritime union
agitator. Described as about 50, small stature, porcine features, blond
hair. At the time of the Italian surrender, he arranged for scuttling of
Italian vessels at Split.
26. Vekaric fnu : Merchant Marine Captain and Political Commissar in Split
Shipping Office. Recently in Fiume. Strongly pro-Tito and veteran Marxist.
Born in Orevic, he is about 53, has grey hair, broad face, medium stature
and slender. Prior to war was ship's master for a Dubrovnik shipping
company.
2?a Viscovic, Ivica Chief physician, Split Hospital. Aged 38, she is tall,
slender, has brown hair and wears spectacles. Prior to war was active Macek
party member. Now active in Communist Party affairs.
26. B'ukovic, Trite City.Engineer. Complete opportunist, he is now an active
Party member. Aged 60, tall, blond, with heavy paunch, has two sons, both
Communists, aged respectively 25 and 28. one is an army officer stationed
in Zagreb. The other has a photo shop in Split.
29. Zu (fnu : Chief of Income Tax Office. A Communist Party member, he
reequen organizes Party demonstrations and parades. Generally despised,
he is So, tall, slender and blond.
