Persia, an extra ns leftist who Baas imprisoned by the Colombian Government for his participation in the 9 April 1948 uprising in Borota, was scheduler to be released on 14 January 1949. The Legal Advisor of the A:ngy, Oomes Brine, is protecting this release on instructions received from the Uattoaal Directorate of the Caneervative Party. The latter believes Pareja should be forced to so-ve the full sentence, which would last until 14 t;ay 1949. 2. Parefa has been extremely motive during his prison term in communicating with sympathizers throughout Colombia who may support his candidacy for the p saidenoy in 1950. Olmt quantities of propaganda are being prepared at the Libr.ria Gran Colombia eulogising Parsja as the "man of the masses'' and calling attention to the fact that he endured imprisonment for the masses.
