The Dutch plan of having the Federal states form an interim government is progressing. Republican sympathizers in East Indonesia and the Pasundan State had promised to withhold their support from the formation of the new cabinets, but they later decided it would be better for all concerned if they acquiesced to the Dutch proposals and then tried to help the Republic from within. 2. Republican strategy is continued resistance in the form of guerrilla warfare, which will intensify when scattered groups are reorganized behind a definite common policy. The Maejumi leaders are trying to organize resistance, about the confused position of the Republic because be feels that the many thousands of young men who, like himself, have dedicated their lives to opposing Dutch colonialism will eventually oust the Dutch. These men have given up careers and professions for this end. Admittedly there are many Republican opportunists who will artici to in the Dutch sponsored Federal government, but this 25X1X Will detract from the backbone of Republican resistance. He believes that new leaders will come forward., and that in the end the Republic will succeed. 4.
