admits that guerrilla warfare will severely damage
Indonesian economy it is continued for at ther six months. This
official hopes to diminish the loss of lives and destruction of property
by appointing Indonesian police throughout Republican areas. He stated
that the economy of the country had already been set back six months.
,2o He does not believe that Sukarno will be acceptable to the Indonesian Federalists
or to the Dutch. He believes that Hatta, Sjahrir and other former Republican
officials will b3 offered posts in the new state of Central Java. It is
unlikely that they will accept such posts as the Ntasjvmi and the Partai
Nasional Indonesia groups have joined with the Communists in a common front
of resistance. The Sultan of Jogjakarta has refused to tic with Hamid II,
Sultan of Pontiaaak, except through former Republican leaders.
