1. The local-born Chinese on Bangka have not up a Persatuan.Tionghoa. This 25X1A6a
organization advocates the separation of local-born Chinese from Chinese
born in China. Its headquarters is at Pangkalpinang. 2309

3. A branch of this organization has been set up at Belinjoe with a membership
of about 1,000. Chairman of its council is LIE Njan Kiat and the
Deputy Chairman and Acting Secretary is Dr. CHEN Kong Sion.
4. The Chinese tin miners have their own trade union called the Serikat
Kaum Buruh (Labor League) with a membership of about.5 000, who are both
Chinese and Indonesians. The Chairman of the Serikat Laura Buruh is
YAP Joan Tjauw. Its headquarters is at Soengailiat.
5. The influence of the Sentral Organisasie Buruh Seluruh Indonesia (SOBSI),
introduced into Bangka by Yanur, Chairman of the Batavia branch, and
LIE Klan Kim of the Sin Min Lao Kung Hui in 1946, has almost disappeared.
11bdul Rahman, a former SOBSI member, now supports the Serikat Kaum Buruh.
Rabman is now a democratic socialist who is combating Communism.
6. The Kuomintang has no adherents in Bangka.
7. There is a Chinese Catholic church with a Chinese priest located at
Soengailiat.
8. For defense Bangka has only one infantry company of the RRIA and four
sections of civil police, in all about 250 men.
