TU Yueh??sheng made he following political co,lments on is November 1948:
a. MAO Tse-tung is as much of an international communist as LI Li-san
and would b?tray China for the USSR.
b. Any talk of a split between 'IAO Tse-tung and LI Li-san is superficial.
c. A coalition .overnment in China is impossible until CHIA1NG Kai-shek
steps asie, and this he will not do.
d. The Carnmunists will not live up to any am-reement they might make in a
coalition, They will be able to control such a government co,pletely in
one to three years.
e. LI Chi-shen represents the type of person the Communists would accept
in a coalition government. He might :.e used, by the Comzunists as a
representative of the Kuomintang.
f. The Ccmnunists had a large fifth column in Tsinan and other northern
cities bui there is no e`v'idence of a large fifth column in Shanghai.
