The Lce-z'ioren G fornment has received the following offers of military-
scholarships in addition to those already granted b?T the United States:
1.. The Spanish Government has offered eight military scholarships, which are at
present under consideration by the Ecuadoran Government.
2., The Argentine Government has offered the Ecuadoran Ministry of National DePgnse
scholarships for two captains and one cadet, in addition to the grants already
made to fifteen members of the armed forces who are at present under training
in Argentina. The Ecuadoran Minister has decided not to accept this offer.
It is believed that this to an indication of the Prinister's apprehension with
regard to :argentine influence on Ecuadoran military personnel.
3. There are five Ecuadoran Army officers ncnr in Chile on scholarships granted
by that country.
