Salvadoran President Castaneda y Castro, deposed on 14 December by an Army coup d'stat, is being held prisoner at Fort Zapote, the First infantry headquarters, awaiting trial for violation of the Constitution. 2. As an added precaution, Col. Osmin Aguirre was also arrested by the military ~,:liclue. The group of young army officers, including Colonels J. M. Lemus, 0. J3olanos, Quintanilla and Cordoba, engineered the coup and was supported by the entire army and National Guards 3. The police force remained neutral, and there was no civilian participation.
