1. The Supreme Economic Council for Hungary, headed by Zoltan vas, is
directly under the orders of the Hungarian Economic Group whose president
is Andor Berei. Both the Council and the Group are directed by the
Hungarian Workers Party.
2. The Hungarian Supreme Economic Council is composed of Arpad Haas, Andor
Berei, 71.oltan Vas, and former college professor Hay, who was an in-
structor at the Moscow Economic University. All of these men are
"fanatical Comunists".
3. The Economic Council has placed one or two managers in each of certain
industries; in most cases Soviet citizens of Hungarian origin are
selected for the key administrative positions. These Soviet citizens
are obliged to report regularly not only to the managers of the various
industries, but also (in secret) to the "Central Soviet Administration
of Budapest".
4. Trade agreements on behalf of the Supreme Economic Council are arranged
through a section in the Ministry of Trade. The chief of the section
is Arpad. Haas, a 26 year old Moscow-trained Communist.
