1. There have been two recent defectiolis among the personnel at the Dejazmacbt
Balchn Hospite .nt AdAis ?Ababa, Luflmilla Bouchousva, a pharmacist who arri700
at the hospital in August 1946, &footed during the last week in jul7 1948
and attempted to leave the hospitali, but is reportedly being held in a locked
room in the hospital, Tamara TeroApiova, who also ex:rived at the hospital In
AUCUOt 1946, defected during the Mat week in July 190, but was dotp.insd in
the home of the nirector and in tle hospital until 29 July, when she escaped
and went into hiding in Addle hbaoa. She was aided in her escape by a staff
mamber. The motive given for her defection was "love, end a desire, not to
return to Russia
2. Dr. L .troronine, who joined the lospital staff on temporary duty in connection
with collecting baboons and monkers for shipment to Russia, has dotained. about
125 baboons end a few Tota monkey4. but they are coming in slowly as the natives

3, The Dejazmacht Balcha Hospital uts founded in 1945 after nogotirtioos between
the Ethiopian and Soviet Goverantats, conducted by Faroror Haile Selanoie and
Minister Andrei Tiaoschenko, Tho Ethiopian Government contributed the
? structure and remodeled it for wo as a hospital., It had oricinelly been
constructed by the Gondrand Tran port Company under the Italians about 1939
and was seized by the Custodian a Enemy Property in 1941. The Soviet
