1. President Gonzalez Videla made a speech at the National Women's Club Conference
an 21 September at which he was reported as stating that he would use the
sword if necessa.~y on those who opposed him. He a1.'so reportedly stated that
he would govern with force because political parties are no good and are only-
concerned with obtaining jobs for members. In another part of his speech he
stated that the Ct nunist want Chile to be a Yugoslavia and him a Tito? At
this point in his speech three Caaaaunist women, Elena Caferenum, Julieta Canpusano,
and Maria Merchant, walked out of the auditorium,
