16 Ear: The 3 Div is 30 kilometers northwest of thing-an,, with an advance party
of 2000 men 10 kilometers southwest of Te-hui (125-0,, 44-31). At Huai-to there
is little change,, vrl.tla the city still surrounded by Co usnista.
17 Nay: The 20C mean advance party of 3 Div destroyed a railroad bridge at
Fu hai (125-38,. 44-22) and then continued southeast they are near within 15 kilo-
meters of Chiu-tai (125-50., 44-08).
The Ce udsts are still attacking Huai-te. Ele me of I and 2 Diva
have been contacted by the Nationalists 20 kilometers east of there.
18 May: Ilual-te fell on the night of 17 ?may. The Nationalist 50, 88, and 91
Dive hold the line about 10 kilometers east of Hual-te. Because of Cc unist
is fi itration and successful harassing attacks, the NECC has ordered a Nationalist
thdrawal to about 20 kilometers east of Hued.-te to set up strong d .'ensive
