?_. The Socialists claix.i to have created in the last six months about 2.000
Cornites d'Entrerwiaes. Many non-party workers belong to these committees,
and through them the Socialists hope to broaden their influence among
workers. According to a Leftist leader of the Socialist Party, the com-
mattees may fail to gain as much influence as is believed possible in some
'carters, source reports. in any case, the Party leader thinks, they will
':at the Socialists in position to renew the struggle for working class
control.
Reelection of Communist leaders in the Congress of the Postal Federation put
the finishing touch to the defeat suffered by the Postal Strike Committee,
accordin to source. Two causes accounted for the defeat. The right to
vote by mail was rejected and supporters of the Strike Committee feared a
xoiitical break from the Communist-dominated CGT. The d:sfeat of the Strike
o ni_ttee, according to source, shows that the opposition has little chance
to make oranges within the CGT. Opposition groups are isolated completely
by the parer of syndicalist bureaucracy and Communist-inspired propaganda,
source concludes.
