According to official reports, shi~buildinr~gg is being carried on in Loksa, Triigi (northern coast of 3aaresana), and ?arms. Work in these places is required ~o satisfy the needs of the Meroanti.le Marine. The building of iron ships is scheduled to begin in the Loka Yards in 1947 and a large dock for repairs is to be built there. 2. Now steamship lines are to opened in 194? from Tallinn to Leningrad, from Tallinn to Kaliningrad (J&iigsberg), and from Tallinn to Porkkala Cape. The Baltic Mercantile urine has been reinforced with some te-n now ships and by the end of 1946 was repotted to have reached 60 per cent of its pro-war standard. 3. Work on the reconstruction of Talli!m Harbor is proceeding apace. The plan is to rebuild it entirely and to make it a- first-class port. All Estonian harbors are to be at least 75 per cent mechanised and are to be equipped with canes. 4. There are now some 1,000 pupils enrolled in the Sea Schools. This number includes many Russians. The school are being run on military lines and the pupils are divided into squads, platoons, and companies.
