roved For Re se 2000/09/01 : CIA-RDP82-002 3R000200210076-0 ZAT DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS WASHINGTON, D. C. 20350 IN REPLY REFER TO Op- 922N/dls Ser: 0033-66 5 May 1966 MEMORANDUM From: Navy Member, Economic Intelligence Committee To: Chairman, Economic Intelligence Committee Subj: Membership and Guidelines for the Petroleum Sub-Committee (U) 1. The EIC Petroleum Sub-Committee membership has been reviewed and it appears that the current membership structure is adequate, 2. It is suggested that the Sub-Committee on Petroleum: a. Review all documented intelligence requirements for this type of basic intelligence. b. Balance these requirements vis-a-vis the finished intelligence produced to ascertain if these needs are being met by current and meaningful products. In this regard, the NIS production schedule for the Section 62C should be reviewed for completeness of document material and timeliness of revisions (I understand this program is currently behind in production by eight (8) Sections), c. Noted response deficiencies to requirements should be docu- mented and steps be taken to correct them by the Sub-Committee or by the agency having primary interest. 3. Such a review is necessary to ensure that the basic intelligence in this field is current and fits the needs of the intelligence community and other government agencies.
