The relevant PNZOs, especially P110. 1 and 5, will be used as
guides when the Subcommittee reviews its statement of priority Deficiencies
of Collection.

of agreed population estimates in RIC SR5-S4, Population of the Communist
Countries, SelectedYears, 1938...80, April 1964.
At the meeting on 1 April, the Subcommittee reviewed a draft of
this publication prepared by the Foreign Demographic Analysis Division
of the Bureau of Census. This draft was an updated version of a similar
report published annually by the Subcommittee during 1960-634 The report
was forwarded for publication after being revised in accordance with
suggestions made by members of the Subcommittee.

10. Evaluation of the Role of the Subcommittee
The Subcommittee believes that its activities provide a useful means
for coordinating the research on population and manpower within the intelligence
community and for eliminating duplication of effort. The Subcommittee also
serves a useful function in acquainting its members and their agencies with
research problems, techniques, and findings on problems of mutual concern.
B. Future Program of the Subcommittee
The Subcommittee plans to engage. in the following major activities during
FY 1965:
1.? To review the basic population statistics published by the Subcommittee
in, the light.of new information.
2. To continue the annual review of the tentative research plans of member
agencies in order to avoid duplication of effort.
3. To review and update its statement on collection deficiencies.
4. If appropriate,' to hear and count upon the more important substantive
reports prepared by member agencies.
