CONSIDERATION OF EIC-RI-S6, "COMMUNIST CHINA'S IMPORTS AND EXPORTS, 1956:
TRADE AND TRANSPORT INVOLVED"
2. Discussion:
The draft report on "Communist China's , Imports. and Exports, 1956:
Trade and Transport Involved" (EIC-Rl-S6), prepared and approved by the
Working Group, was reviewed. The Chairman indicated that he considered
this report the best in the series and that the Working Group members
should be commended for their preparation of the report. Mr. Terrill also
indicated that he considered the report of high quality and the members of
the Working Group deserving of commendation. The other members concurred.
Chairman of the Working Group, thanked the other Working
Group members for their efforts and cooperation.
The EIC, after making minor revisions in the Working Group draft,
approved EIC-Rl..S6, and agreed that the Chairman should transmit it to the
IAC for its approval. The EIC unanimously commended the Working Group for
its preparation of this report.
SECURITY CLASSIFICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP ON EIC SUBCOMMITTEES.
4. Discussion:
Mr. Holmes stated that the present requirement that documents
indicating the affiliation of individuals with specific EIC Subcommittees
or Working Groups have a SECRET security classification raised problems
in his agency. He requested that consideration be given to downgrading
the classification of such documents to CONFIDENTIAL.
It was agreed that this matter would be investigated, and a
report made to the EIC.
