1. Q,. Give a complete and detailed description of the operations performed
in closing the canopy of a MIG-15 (RD-1+5 powered) from inside the
airplane.
A. In closing the canopy from ,he inside, the, pilot- sits in his eat
and uses both hands to close the,,.cznopy.
2. Q. What, causes the three atmosphere indication on the gauge when the
canopy is sealed?
A. The three atmosphere indicates that the canopy is closed. An indica-
tion on the gauge must overlap another fixed point on the g;au. e in
order for the canopy to be sealed.
3. Q. Please tell in detail what operations are performed to release the
canopy for emergency ejection.
A. A lever located on the right side of the pilot seat is pushed forward.
Many levers have a red danger flag which must be removed before the
lever can be pushed forward, This is a safety device which prevents
accidental opening of the canopy during take off, landing; or during
flight. When the lever is thrust all the way forward it disen;ages
the canopy locks and throws the canopy rearward. Once tit, canopy is
in its most rearward position, the pilot sits comfortably in the seat,
places his feet solidly on the pedals and presses the ejection button
located on the underside of the right arm rest.
4. Q. Give a complete and detailed description of the ejection -,at rho,-rin;
the exact location of the ejection firing button.

Q. Is the seat adjustable vertically :?:nd horizontally?
A. The seat is adjustable vertically only.
5. ;~. Is the airplane serviced with air before every flight?
A. The plane is serviced with air before every flight; 120 minimum
atmosphere. pressure before take-off.
6. Q. Where in the airplane is the battery located?
A. The battery is in the nose of.the airplane, directly in front of
the pilot.
7. Q. Give a complete and detailed description of the preflight inspection.

Q. Does the air pressure gauge read 8 atm or 8 x 10 atm when the air-
plane is serviced with air?
A. It reads between 120 - 150 atmospheres.
10.
Q. Is the starting button pushed with the thumb or little finger?

11.
Q. Indicate on a sketch which buttons are depressed prior to starting.

how is the generator checked? What are the meter readings? What
should the oil pressure be? What should the fuel pressure be?
A. If the voltage meter reads between 26 and 28, the generator is
considered to be functioning properly. Oil pressure reading on
the RD--45 should be between 3 to 5 atmospheres with 6 atmospheres as
maximum. According to instructions fuel pressure should be 72 atmos-
pheres, however, in practice 50 to ~0 atmospheres is acceptable.
13. Q. Ave you certain that the gear selector valve handle is mounted below
the instrument panel?
A. Yes, that is the correct location.
14. Q. Describe in detail the cart used to supply power for starting the
aircraft's turbine.
A. The old-type cart was a two-wheeled cart capable of supplying power
for one plane. The new type is a complete truck capable of servicing
two planes simultaneously.
15. Q. It is mentioned that fuel is drained prior to starting the engine. To
do this is it necessary to open the doors or remove the cover plates
which are located to the right and left of the engine on the under-
side of the fuselage?
A. I do not know.
16. Q. Describe the truck which was used to transport the disassembled
airplane.
A. A four-wheeled flat cart. It is attached to a truck and pulled away.
The fuselage is placed on the cart and secured to the cart with
leather straps. The cart can be elevated or lowered to the desired
height.
17. Q.
To what static height is the main shock strut inflated?
A. I do not know.
