Tht Stalin Factory Which is indicated as #34 on the ma7 began about 1932 to manufacture engines for sub- marines. The plant employed 10-15 thousand workers. When the Soviets retreated in March 1942, they burned the interior of the building but the oitside was intact. The factory was built by a Belgian firm about 1905-06. There have been additions to the plant since its original construction. 25X1 A Serp I Mollett 2. The Serp I Mollett Factory P'E jn-/1oY oin1) consisted of two shops in the early 1930's.. One division manufactured farm machinery. The second shop had a small foundry and produced bases for grinding machines. artillery shells being produced in this plant. They appeared to be 150 mm and about 75 mm. The Serp I Mollett Plant is indicated on the map as #37 Kharkov Bicycle Factory to 1 3. The factory' employed 40-50 thousand workers. Approx- imately $,200 Komunir type tractors were produced per month. They also manu- factured prime movers for artillery. The Locomotive Works was the largest factory in Kharkov. Production was on a 24 hour basis, with shifts of seven am- four pm; four pm - twelve pm; and twelve pin - seven an. All factories in the Kharkov area were suppliers of the Komintern Locomotive Works.
