1. The Czechoslovak Autobus Transport, National Corporation, owned 64 new
Skoda Ro-706 buses, ten older buses of various makes, two new "Ikaruso buses
(acquired from Hungary in 1951), 130 trucks of various makes and capacities
which formerly belonged to private owners, three Skoda-Tudor passenger cars,
one Jawa-Ninor passenger car and six Zetor tractors.
2. The vehicles were propelled by gasoline which was stored in the main regional
depot in Nitra. The gasoline was brought every day to the underground gaso-
line depot of the CSAD garages in Nitre. Each tank had a capacity of 20 thou-
sand liters. The CSAD corporation has its own repair shop with about 60 men
working in two shifts.
3.1 there were about 40 women
drivers. The bus drivers worked in two shifts--7 am to 3 pm and 3 pm to
11 pm. Some of the truck drivers also worked in two shifts. One driver
was available for driving a passenger car at any time during the night.
The average net wage of a driver was six thousand to seven thousand crowns
per month. Almost every driver was a member of the Communist Party. This
was a requirement for an application.
Each driver had to promise
to drive at least 100 thousand kilometers without an accident.
4. The premises were guarded by a 15 member guard dressed in round caps and
black uniforms with a red band on the left arm. They carried no weapons
during the day but had rifles at night.
). The director of the corporation was Nr Dolinsky, a Slovak and a devoted
Communist Party member.
