ill The..Presna VBchanika plant (Precision Vhobinery) in Bytea was subordi~xted to the
Precision Mao ery Enterprise in Stara Tura, for. location of the Plant see
measuring tools of various sizes, copyi ~,~.: tables, tape measures, Metal furniture,
hospital, beds, childrenst beds, et4. Drawir47; boards were made in threw sizes.
The production cost of one drawing boar l wa;w: 990 crowns; the sales pride for ex-
port was 2,200 crowns, The production 1r to ,t for one shift (eight hors) was. 60
drawing boards. M)st of these boards wee exported to the Soviet Union. The
boards were packed in wooden boxep; the ' eads fwn the tables were paok 4 separ-
ately, Once a month, these boards were taken to the railway station in Bytca.
The scshool drawing instruments were made for the home market. The monthly output
goal was 35 thousand pieces of various sizes. Copying boards wer .made only for
export; the planned production goal was 60-9O pieces per` nth. The production
cost of one table was 280 crowns. The isles prise was 1,120 crowns. These tables
were exported either to the satellite cfwntries or sold on the hr market. I
do not know whether these tables were extorted to the Soviet Union. Twelve types
of metal tape measures were made from a special steel. The tapes were made from
an inferior material and many times finished tapes had to be scrapped as defective.
Slide gauges were made for the Soviet Union and other countries in the Soviet
orbit. The production goal was very htgr. Two types of hospital bode were aside,
chrome and white enamel. The production goal per week was 200 beds. The sales
price of chromium beds was 700 crowns; that of white beds, 450 :crowns.
Raw-material was supplied by the Vitkoviola Iron Works and by the foundry in Martin.
Non-ferrous metals and special steel weir supplied by the Steel Works in Kiadno.
Tho storehouse of raw-material was loco wed in the plant. Coal as supplied by
rail from Ostrava and Handlova. Water was supplied by the com 4ni ry veterworks in
Byte. Electric energy was supplied by the power plant in ilaava. The whole
plant was driven by electricity,
Plant equipment was very old. The plant had three true truck;: a 3.`.-t n Skoda,
a f4ve-ton Tatra, and a five-ton Skoda; two passenger care, a S.ko-oda 'N.do-r and a
Jawa Minor. In, addition, there were two battery carts in the plant for local
traiamportation.
5. The maznaager of the plant was Pavel a devoted Com mis ?1, age 35 years,
height 170 centimeters, thin, blond hajra, maaried, lived in Bytea. Technical
manager of the plat was Jan PA , a dpv ted. Communist Party member., 35 years old
height 175 centimeters, broad shoulders, black hair.

The total n;unber of employees of the Bytca plant was 1,300 workers, of whom 150 were
specialists, 620 women, 20 administrative and technical employees; the rest were
helpers.
The wage of skilled workers was 4:000 crowns per month; the wage of helpers was 3,000.
crowns, skilled women workers 3,500. The wage of technical and administrative em-
ployees was 5,000 crowns. The manager's salary was 1$,000 per month. Non-skilled
women workers received 2,500 crowns, The plant worked in one shift, from 6 a m to
2pm,
.The total number of Communist Party members in the plant was approximately 100 persons,
The rest of the workers were mainly without any political affliation whatsoever. The
Comm mist propaganda in the plant was negigible.
96 The plant has its own factory guard who wore blue uniforms and were armed with pistols,
The total number of the guards was eight men. In addition, the plant had its own
factory militia consisting of 24 men, The members of the militia wore blue overalls
with a red band o the left arm. The members were armed with rifles which were stored
in the plant when not in use.
