The 2nd Light Artillery Brigade was directly subordinate to
the Second Guards Mechanized Army. 278 Army OB indicates
that Oranienburg is in the territory of the 4th Guards
Mechanized Army.117 The 2nd Light Artillery Brigade was
activated in November 1950 ane only air force units were in
Oranienburg up until that date. The following units were

The 590th Light Artillery Regiment was divided into two
battalions, each of which had three batteries and a head-
quarters platoon. Each battery had two platoons which in
turn were broken down into two squads each. They all were
located in Oranienburg and were assigned

I saw the following units but can give no further information
concerning them: a tank division in Oranienburg; a regiment
of jet bombers at an airfield in Oranienbrug; an artillery
division near Spandau (Berlin); and an artillery officers'
school in Fuerstenberg.

6. Units in the USSR
The 2nd Guards Rifle Division stationed in the area of Alabino
(5532N-2700E) and Kovrov (5625N-4118E), was directly sub-
ordinate to the Moscow Military District. The Commanding
Officer was a Brigadier General (Genmaior) Arkhangelskiy. I
cannot remember The unit,s historical name
