Rumanian
1. There was no feature of the uniform worn by SOVROMTRANSPORT (SRT)
officers, officer-candidates (cadetts),,or crew to distinguish them
as members of the Rumanian Merchant Marihe. Only officers and
officer-candidates wore insignia to denote rank which was shown by
gold stripes on the lower part of the sleeves of jackets, topcoats,
and raincoats.
2. The winter uniform worn by officers and officer-candidates consisted
of jackets, trousers, hats, and topcoats all navy blue. Shoes and
ties were black, shirts were white. The summer uniform was white
with a high-collared jacket, white trousers, white shoes, and a
white bat cover. No shoulder boards or trouser stripes were worn on
winter or summer uniforms. The material of all uniforms was of very
poor quality; no dress uniform existed for any of the personnel. SRT
issued no uniform to crew members, and because of the high cost of
uniforms, few crew members could afford to buy them. Uniforms were:
worn by officers and officer-candidates aboard passenger ships at
sea, in harbors while on duty, and on national holidays.
3. The speciality of officers and officer-candidates was designated by
the background color under the sleeve stripes. A black background
was used for deck officers, light blue for radio officers, violet
for engineers, and red for ships' doctors. (See pages 2 and 3 for
sketches of details of the SOVROMTRANSPORT uniform.)

shoes.; and hats of black; the edges of the hats were very sharp.
Crew members wore dark blue shirts with wide collars and black
trousers. No shoulder boards, speciality insignia, or trouser stripes
was worn by any personnel. Although no feature on 50X1

stripes other than the material of the uniform.

red, stripes and one white stripe on the upper half of the left
