DRAINAG E CANAL: (not shown on map) connected the Nitra river to the Selencov creek, 1-2 kilometers long x 5 meters at top tapered to one _meter at bottom. Canal construction first started in 1941 and was completed in 1943. Prior to the completion of the canal, water would remain in area after heavy rains. The water drained rapidly from terrain surrounding the canal. 3. NITRA TO ZUBOR STATE ROAD: Concrete, six meters wide. 4. JUNCTION NORTHEAST OF NITRA TO TORMOS ROAD: limestone, four meters wide. II. NITRA RIVER: 2. DRAINAGE CANAL: Reference Pt. 2 Encl. 1. 3 PENCE: 'Lower 50 cm portion of fence constructed of stones and , upper portion constructed of steel mesh fence 150 cm. high. The fence extended along southwest, west and northwest portion of airfield. UNIDENTIFIED PUMP: or water). AIRCRAFT FACTORY RUINS: Prior to 1945 the factory was known as the MRAZ firm that manufactured gliders and repaired German air- craft. The factory was destroyed by the Germans in May 1945. NEWLY CONSTRUCTED BUILDING: Red brick, 20 x 8 x 3 meters, white tile gable type roof. When last observed in November 1952 it was completed except for the doors, windows and some interior construction. SOURCE had no information concerning beginning of construction, completion data, or future utilization of the building. HANGAR: Dark green corrugated tin (iron frame construction) 35 x 20 x 9 meters high in front and 4 meters high in rear with dark green corrugated tin shed type roof, and corrugated tin slide type doors extending across East side of hangar. Usage of hangar unknown. No further information. APRON: Concrete;90 meters long North to South x 20 meters wide in front of hangars. When last observed in November 1952 the apron was not in use. 10. HANGAR: For description and dimensions reference is made to hangar Pt. 8. 11. GUARD SHACK: Dark green wooden, 1 x 80 cm x 2 meters with dark green gable type roof. No guard was observed at this guard shack during observations in November 1952. 12. ENTRANCE GATE: Metal gate, 4.5 meters wide x 2.5 meters high. Gate was unattended and open during observations in November 1952. 13. NITRA TO AIRFIELD ROAD: Limestone, three meters wide. 14. BRIDGE: Wooden, 30 x 4 x 4 meters. The former bridge was demol- ished by the Germans in 1945 and a new bridge was constructed shortly after the end of the war in 1945. The new bridge had a five ton capacity. 15. ROAD: Reference Pt. 3, Encl. #1. 16. FIELD ROAD: dirt two meters wide, which extended from road "to 13, Encl. #2VF, to junctions of roads ffts. 15 and 180 Encl. g7. 17. CONCRETE ARCH BRIDGE: 30 x 6 x 4 meters, weight capacity unknown. Former bridge was destroyed by Germans in 1945, the newly con- structed bridge was completed in 1948.
