The construction warke~^s have begun w~.th enthus~,al~m

Agricultural Machinexy''Plant. The plant will be fully com~
plated by 1955, its construction is being caxried out on
the pattern of the Soviet factories for agricultural machin-
ery,
The present "Georgi Dimitrov" Plant was erected on
the site of an old natianali~ed capitalist enterprise, which
had been operating on a handicraft level. Only a narrow
tumble-down building, l~.alf of it equipped with a wodden roof
and the other half roofless, was inherited from the greedy
capitalists.
Since 19-~8 the plant has been considerably enlarged,
new buildings have been erected, and many new temporary ad-
ditions have been made in order to increase its production
capacity, The government selected the plant for the produc-
tion of agricultural machinery, urgently needed by Bulgarian
agriculture, which is marching on the road, to Socialism.
Inspired by the g~~at tasks, assigned to them by the
Party and-the people's government, the workers of the fac-

The first construction work has already begun, The
machine assembly shop is under construction, The fo~rlowing
years will see the erection of the rest of the shops, the wsrre-
houses, the boiler room, the compressor installation, etc,
During the period off' intensi~`ied construction work on the new
shops, the workers wil]. be producing agriculture], machines with-
out interruption with the old production equipment, Very soon
they will also start manufacturing flax-picking machines, the
marvelous cotton?~picker or "Dumashchaya" (thinking) machine,
as it is called by Soviet kolkhoz members, the beet combines,
which will mechanize the labor of the members of the farm
worlt~ers' cooperatives in the gathering of this important
crop. The plant will also produce spare parts for the com-
tines imported from the USSR.
The new plant will be built by the newestr~canstruc-
tion methods. The spacious and sl~nny shops will be equipped
with machinery delivered by the brotherly USSR, and part of
them will be produced in Bulgarian machine-building plants.
The .plant will have its own rail lines for the transporta-
tion of the raw materiarls and the finished machinery, and it
will also have its own water supply, a large cooling and
ventilation installation, steam .heating, etc.
The enormous new agricultural machinery plant. will
provide a solid basis for the mechanization of the large-scale,
socialist agriculture of Bulgaria, Its. production will a11eW
viate more and more the labor of the working peasants, will
increase y~.elds, and' will speed the progress of the Bulgarian
