Subject: Evaluation of Central Intelligence Agency SO Information
Reports.
Arrangements have recently been made with the Central Intelligence
Agency whereby the Office of Special Operations, (OSO), will make every
effort to expand the source descriptions of SO reports, On reports from
some areas this may be noted already,
OSO has also agreed to pr ;,ide "minimu-r" background information in
oases when more information is essential tc a proper evaluation of
reports containing information or concerning areas of critical importance.
OSO insists that this source information be handled not in writing,
but orally, under carefully controlled conditions, and be made available
to pertinent officials on a strict need-to-know basis.
Requests for source information in either of these categories
should be made to Mr. Ross Ingersoll of IAD. Requests must originate
with officers of the rank of Branch Chief or above.
