I told her that h.as retired; she said that Robert S. Boyd, Minority Staff Director, has his home telephone number, and he would try at home. 3. 1- 1 LIAISON Along with 1 -1 25X1 of our office, accompanied. two new Senate Select Comml tee on Intelligence staffers (Mike Gela.cek and Tom .0; Crowley) and three new I-louse Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence staffers (Ira Goldman, Fred Hull and Arlene Marek) to a series of orientation briefings. Mike Glennon, Legal Counsel, Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on International Operations, to set up a visit by him to Headquarters for Thursday, 3 August at 2:00 p.m. to receive a briefing from DDO/LA Division on cooperation among several South American security services. This is in response to one of Glennon's requests related to the Subcommittee's investigation of foreign intelligence activities in the U.S. 5.1 1 LIAISON Received a call from John Marshall., on the staff of the Morgan-Schmitt Senate Select Committee on Ethics Subcommittee, who said that he had asensi.ti_ve matter he wished to discuss concerning the Subcommittee's investiga- tion of the leak. I told Marshall that I would. be on the 11.11 on. Thursday, 3 August and would. stop by to see him then. Gitenstein said a friend of his, had recently been rejected for employment with the Agency. Gitenstein said I was very 25X1 interested in emplloyment here and would like to know if anything such as further education or language training would improve his chances I told Gitenstein I did not know what. I could say o the case but I would look into it. I asked Gitenstein if he would meet with I I, OLC, 25X1 to discuss the amendment before the Senate Judiciary Committee to the Federal Tort Claims Act. George said. that Clifford Hackett, on the Senator's staff, had just received a copy of an unclassified Agency publication entitled "Economic Indicators Weekly Review" and wanted to be put on regular distribution for the publication. I explained the Director's new policy of providing unclassified studies to Senators routinely and that the Senator's office would regularly get all these publications through the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. I told that we had earlier in the day informed Epstein that three Senate Ethics staffers had received ST briefings, and thus could be exposed to this compart.iiiented. information, but, that we had specifically cautioned Epstein that this notification was not meant to imply in. any way that we were authorizing him to show documents which were the property of another Agency to the Senate Ethics staffers. 19. Epstein said he planned to handle this by answering the staff members' questions about the material. 2. LIAISON Talked with Audrey VIlatry, Clerk, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, who gave me the schedule for Committee hearings for next week. Only one hearing, on the charter, is planned. 3. LIAISON Hal Ford, Senate Select VCommittee on Intelligence staff, was at Headquarters and. reviewed comments of individual agencies on his study of intelligence on China. After his review, Ford said he needs to do some more interviewing and then will want to look at the comments again. 25X1 4.
