(Unclassified - NDL) EMPLOYMENT REQUEST Per her earlier request, I mailed to Mrs. Edmondson, 'n the Knoxville, Tennessee district office of Senator Howard H. Baker (R., Tenn. ), an Agency brochure and employment application form for one of their constituents. 2. (Unclassified - NDL) LIAISON Received a call from Lorraine Huang, in the office of Senator Alan. D. Cranston (D. , Calif.), who said they were in receipt of a letter fro in connection with a 25X1 request from their constituent Ms. Huang said that 25X1"? letter had stated that this was a matter the FBI should deal with and they wanted to send the constituent's letter to the FBI but that we had not returned the letter to them. I confirmed wit 25X1 that we in fact did have the constituent's letter in our possession and asked her to forward it on to Ms. Huang. 3. (Unclassified -. NDL) EMPLOYMENT REQUEST Per her request, I sent to Kim Baxter, in the office of Representative Ronald A. Sarasin (R., Conn.), an Agency brochure and employment application form for one of their constituents. 4. (Unclassified - NDL) LIAISON. Per the request of Doris, Senate Armed Services Committee staff, I sent four more copies of the Agency publication entitled "A Dollar Cost Comparison of Soviet and US Defense Activities, 1967-77" to the Committee, attention Frank Sullivan, Staff Director. 5. (Unclassified - ME) FOIA/LIAISON Spoke with Janet, in the office of Representative Lloyd Meeds (D., Wash.), who was calling on behalf of a constituent (unnamed) who is seeking file on himself from FBI and CIA. I suggested to Janet that she forward the request directly to us, rather than handle by phone, and our Information and Privacy Coordinator would seek any further information he might need in order to properly process the request. FOIA At the request of callec?5X1 Torn Packer, in the District office of Representative Henry Waxman (D., Calif. ), and provided him. with the name and address of our Information and Privacy Coordinator to satisfy a constituent request regarding a MKULTRA related report which is available under the FOIA. 8. LIAISON I called Hank Udow, on the staff of Representative i am Lehman (D., Fla.), in response to his earlier request for assistance in responding to a constituent letter. The constituent explained that he had been a member of DOD 157 and explained that its mission was to rescue Soviet dissidents in the rnid-19601s. I told Udow that this was not an Agency organization. . We then discussed how he;could write a response to the constituent. 9. I said we would permit Arenberg to participate in the review along with Myers and Jim Beck, also of the Subcommittee staff. 6. (Unclassified - MMP) LIAISON Roy Warner, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, called with a request for an up to date study on the potential for short or long term oil development in the Pacific and East Asia -- to include political ramifications arising therefrom. I told him that I would check into this and get back to him. NFAC /CSS, 25X1 forwarded an NFAC publication on "Developing Countries: Oil Potential, Policies and Constraints. " I called Mr. Warner and told him that. I was forwarding this document, classified Secret, and believed that it would satisfy his needs. After checking with FBIS/Liaison, I I told him that it was available through the FBIS wire at the Library of Congress, starting with Item #38. 28. (Unclassified - MMP) LIAISON Terry Finn, on the staff of the Senate Budget Committee, called with a request for a paper, preferably unclassified, on the potential for world oil in 1980. After checking with NFAC /CSS, I told him that there would be an eventual update (not particularly soon, though) of the April 1977 - International Energy Situation: Outlook to 1985 paper. I asked him whether he received the Bi-weekly Statistical Supplement and after he told me that he did not, I registered his name for subsequent receipt of this publication with FAG /CSS. 29. (Unclassified - MMP) LIAISON Talked with DDO/NA 61 and Frank Conahan, GAO /International Relations, concerning a GAO S25 Control Program report on South America. the report was about to be published. Mr. Conahan assured me that the report had not been published, but said that it was in the last stages of completion prior to interested agency'review. . He told me that we could expect the document, for re ordination purposes, within the next few weeks. I informed Mr. . ri V'30. (Unclassified - MMP) LIAISON Received a call from DIA Congressional Relations, who told me that they had received a request from Representative Robin L. Beard (R., Tenn.) for the coordinated community paper Soviet civil defense.. told 25X1 me that he was referring Mr. Beard to CIA, since it was 25X1 understanding that Community products were for dissemination or review through CIA. He said that he was calling just to let us know what he was saying. I thanked him for the call and said that he was right, that we have received a similar request from Representative Beard and would take care of it.
