of the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee staff, to ask him
about the travels of Representative Robert L. F. Sikes (D. , Fla.)
to Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama. Ralph said that he knew that
Mr. Sikes would be traveling to Latin America, but Ralph did not
know to which countries nor for what purpose. He did say that he had

Sent via courier, a letter dated 9 January from George Cary to Chairman
Melvin Price (D., Ill.), House Armed Services Committee, confirming
arrangements for the Director's appearance before the Committee at
10:00 a.m., 26 January.

Izzard, in the office of Senator James B. Pearson (R., Kan. ), requesting
a copy of "International Energy Situation: Outlook to 1985. " I called her
later to advise that a copy would be sent to her in a day or two and she
appreciated the call.
6. (Unclassified - ELS) BRIEFING Arranged for Dan Childs and
Mike Epstein, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, to meet with
the Inspector General for a mission and function briefing on 20 January at
2:00 p. m. Because of weather, I cancelled Childs' briefing with the Office
of Communications and reset it for 2:00 p.m. on 12 January.

7. (Unclassified - ELS) BRIEFING Jack Ticer, Senate Armed
Services Committee staff, called requesting the annual worldwide intelligence
briefing for his Committee. After some negotiation, it was tentatively set
for 27 January. We need to get a confirmation from the Director as soon
as possible so Ticer can send out Committee notices. This will be a
morning appearance for the Director; if the session goes beyond that,
