MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Periodic Briefing for the House Minority Leader
1, and I met with Congressman Rhodes yester-
day aftern one of our periodic current intelligence
briefings. The primary story was the Horn of Africa.
2. I informed Mr. Rhodes about the current battle
situation in the Ogaden and in Eritrea. We discussed at
some length Ethiopia's plans for an offensive and the Cuban-
Soviet presence in Ethiopia. I told him that within the next
few weeks there could be as many as 5,000 combat troops in
the country. We also discussed the massive Soviet supply
effort and I

satellite which reentered the atmosphere and impacted in
Canada.
