On that date, the Board and Office of National Estimates was replaced by the National Intelligence Officers (NIOs), each to be the Director's personal representative and reporting directly to him on the NIO's area of responsibility. A Deputy to the Director of Central Intelligence for National Intelligence Officers (D/DCI/NIO) was assigned administrative and coordinating authority over the NIOs.
