5. LIAISON I called Amber Scholtz, on 25X1
the staff of Representative Paul N. McCloskey, Jr. (R., Ca..), per-
taining to information the Congressman had requested on Yuri V.
Andropov, a Russian. Scholtz also raised a question concerning
the classification and sanitization of Agency material and I asked
her to send me a copy of the document in question, which she will.
6. LIAISON Spoke to Bob Kimmitt, NSC 25X1
staff, concerning legislative history of Section 15B as it relates
to Senator George McGovern's (D., S. Dak.) letter of October 3, 1978.
7. LIAISON Took a call from Mike 25X1
Glennon, Legai Counsel, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who
said that the Subcommittee on International Operations would like
to go ahead with the general briefing on foreign liaison offered by
the DCI in his 12 October letter to Subcommittee Chairman George S.
McGovern (D., S. Dak.). I told Glennon that we would probably want
a letter from Chairman McGovern on this point, and that I would be
back in touch with him regarding scheduling of the briefing.
8.1 ADMINISTRATIVE DELIVERIES Delivered-25X1
/a copy of the CIA liaison primer package to Mike O'Neil, Chief Counsel,
House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
9. LIAISON Diane LaVoy, House Permanent 25X1
Select Committee on intelligence staff, called with a request to talk
to George Allen, Director, Center for the Study of Intelligence, about
some of the Studies':products. I appraised DDA, and 25X1
OTR, of this request. 25X1
10. BRIEFING Accompanied Dick Giza, 25X1
and Pat Long, both of the House Perm Committee on
Intelligence staff, to a briefing by , SALT Support Sta 5Xj
NFAC, in Mr. McCrory's office (7F18). The brieting was on the .
procedures for Community reporting on SALT verification. The briefing
was thorough and there were no outstanding questions.
11. LIAISON Thomas K. Latimer, Staff 25X1
Director, ca e requesting Agency response for Chairman Edward P.
Boland (D., Mass.) on the veracity of the 2 October 1978 article
in the New York Magazine by Michael Ledeen about CI Staff having
planted false information in high USG circles to find out whether
there was in fact a "mole." I have passed this request on to
PCS/LOC. 25X1
