in the office of Representative Jack Edwards
(R., Ala.), who requested
an employment interview for a constituent, I subsequently
spoke with and an appointment was scheduled for tomorrow
at 2:30 p.m. with

LIAISON Called Mike Epstein, Senate Select
Committee on Intelligence staff, and arranged for him to meet this morning
with Don Gregg, SA/DO/O, regarding the 25X1
After a discussion between Gregg
and Epstein covering why Epstein needed to see these reports, and the
Agency's hope of developing a better relationship with the Committee on
these kinds of issues, Epstein reviewed the reports. Later Epstein said
he was shooting for 15 April for a first draft of his report on the Committee's
investigation. He said the oily thing he can fault the Agency for is that
no analysis was done of the substantial amount of information oni
activities, in order to develop the big picture. Generally,kIe said the Agency
appears to have disseminated appropriately its informationpxi this subject.
Epstein said his overall conclusion will be that Government policy makers
must decide whether or not to be concerned about activities bf friendly
foreign intelligence services in the United States. He said there are pros
and cons on this issue but that the Government has been aware of

activities since 1963 and nothing was done.
Epstein also reviewed the report prepared in response to a Committee
letter regarding the allegations of He has one minor
follow-up question.
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, who said he needs an answer
to his inquiry on whether Representative Morris Udall's (D., Ariz.) staff
can see transcripts of Agency testimony before the Joint Committee on
Atomic Energy. I agreed to let him know tomorrow.
14. LIAISON Called David Bushong, Senate
Select Committee on Intelligence staff, and told him I would be making final
arrangements for the briefing of Senator Barry Goldwater (R., Ariz. ),
Committee Vice Chairman, on Namibia. Bushong gave me further
clarification of what he believes Senator Goldwater is seeking.
