Admiral Stansfield Turner
Director Central Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D.C. 20505
In April I wrote to Attorney General Griffin Bell
inquiring about the results of an investigation about
the assassination of Orlando Letelier and Ronni Karpen
Moffitt. I was told the letter had been forwarded to
the Central Intelligence Agency, but I have received no
further response.
I would like to know exactly what steps the Justice
Department is goin to take, or has taken in this
investigation and what kind. of an investigation is being
made of the failure of United States intelligence agencies
to know about threats against a prominent resident of the
United States and diplomat and to protect him from
those threats. I must stress that I am anxious. for
information pertaining to this,
It was well known that Orlando Letelier was opposed
to the Pinochet government of Chile and had received
threats on his life, and yet American intelligence
agencies for which we pay billions of dollars did not
do their job and protect him which led to his assassination.
I look forward to hearing from you on this matter
very soon,
With best regards,
James Aboure
