Since August 1963, SS/OSA has closely monitored developments at the Pacific Missile Range. I might add that personnel at WPAFB have been most cooperative in coordinating all aspects of! Security significantewith this office, and the above referenced TWX presents an accurate picture of the current situation. During visits to the 144R and\ lareas of con- cern explored included co unications, hangar and emergency landing facilities, optical coverage, and cover. The usual amount of problems consistent with an operation of this magnitude were uncovered. However, the major ones have been resolved and this office considers itself prepared to support the activity should an approval for commencement he granted. It is planned to have a Security representative la placel and possible at the PR itself, during all missile tests. All phases of the first "est would be very closely monitored. 4. The only personnel cleared at present at PMU are c Commanding Officer, the Range Director, the Range operation* Officer, and his deputy. All are cleared at a W.-2 level.
