(1) The sample weighed about 35 pounds to the bushel, which indicates
that it was grown under reasonably favorable conditions.
(2) The grain is identified as of the early yellow common oat group,
similar to the type introduced into the USA from Russia about
1900 as ffKhersonf', sometimes called "Sixty Day."
(3) The admixed weed seeds are of a type to be expected in the
Ukraine,
The admixed weed seeds are of a type to be expected in the
northern Ukraine,

b, Oat sample
The sample weighed l.8 pounds to the bushel.
It contained aboutt thirds of the two-rowed type of barley
and one-third of th. six rowed type,, with admixed traces of
oats, corn, rye, weed seeds, and dirt*
The sample was somewhat weathered, which along with the good
test weight indicates that it was grown under favorable
conditions of rainfall, and that rain must have fallen during
the harvest period.
The sample appeared to be spring barley, and the admixture
of oat traces further suggests spring seeding,

Evaluation of the samples examined is as
follows.-
a, Barley sample
(1) The sample exhibited a good test weight -Which, together with its
weathered appearance, indicates that it was grown under
favorable conditions as to rainfall.
(2) The sample was probably from a spring seeding.
(3) The port of loading, the variety of the grain, and the kinds
of admixed weed seeds suggest the Ukraine as the place of
growth,
b. Oat sample
(1) Test weight and weathering indicate growth under reasonably
favorable conditions.
(2) The port of loading, variety of the grain, and type of admixed
weed seeds suggest that the grain was grown in the Ukraine.
c. Corn sample
(1) The port of loading and the grain varieties suggest the Ukraine
as the location in which the corn was probably grown,,
