1. Balatonkiliti Airfield is south of Sidfok on the west side of the road that connects
Sdgvdr with Sidfok. It is 2,000 by 1,000 m.
2. The field is on a plateau, bounded on all aides by low hills. Before 1y45 it was
the 316fok Sport,Airf field, and the otfioial Wane still denominates it as a sport
field of. the Rungarian air group (MR3Z).
3. The grqund is a red loan which does not let water through easily. ,Preparations for
drainage were.nade sow tiw ago, but the work hao never been carried through.
Turing the spring and fall rains the field is unusable. The use of the field is
also hindered by the faot that there ars often fogs Eton the lake in the morning.
At the north end of; the field there is an obstaole in the form of the smokestack of
a brink faotory, and on the south aide there are the two church towers of Sdgv>ir.
4. The struoturee oonsist ofs a aoslsar-d building; a two-story quarters; a one-story
quarters; two wooden barraeks; an assembly hall and magazine. Ali are quite new.
There is no visible radio station, and no direction ata~aon or radar. There is no
concrete rummy.
The Hungarian Air f~roup has been promised that the field will be enlarged and
rebuilt. It is believed that in the spring of 1954. a Hungarian air school will be
installed.
6. L'~uring the sumwr of 195; the field was used by both 3ovist and Hungarian fighters.
They aame in swell units and always left aedn almost ~meaiately. .At the field at
present there is only a Hungarian guard eonpany of 24 or 22 men.
